Afghan Fresh Fruit

Agriculture is central to the Afghan economy, this sector alone contributes to more than half of GDP (53%) excluding the opium economy and provides employment for two-thirds (67 %) of the labour force. Nearly four out of five Afghans live in rural areas, which also harbour the highest incidence of poverty.
AKS have worked closely with Afghan government agencies and ministries to facilitate the export of Afghan agriculture products to foreign market including Europe. This successful pilot activity was achieved through working closely with farmers and value chains of key products.
